As a former law enforcement officer and a current educator, I feel compelled to write this letter of thanks and praise to the volunteer members of the C.H.R.I.S. (Challenging, Helping, Reaching, Inspiring, Students) Project, one of the most meaningful anti-drug and alcohol programs I have seen. Quad-amputee Daniel Davison, Maj. Jeff Taylor and deputies from the Lee County Sheriff's Office, 'T' from the Sanibel Police Dept., Lauren Earle, Kristina Williams, Kerri Knific and local high school and college students beautifully, albeit somberly, brought home the all-important messages of taking responsibility for one's actions and that positive and negative decisions can make life-altering differences.
